Let’s Talk about Peer Pressure!
Introduction
It’s back to school! You are now in your final year of high school, soon to go to university! You’ve had a great summer and are happy to see your friends.
Well, there’s Sophie! You are so happy to see your girlfriend again! You both arrived on purpose one hour before the start of classes to have time to tell each other about your holidays in detail. But Sophie looks sad. You rush to give her a hug and ask her what’s wrong.
She tells you that her little cousin is in hospital after a TikTok challenge that went wrong: the “blackout challenge” which consists of suffocating yourself until you pass out. Sophie is very shocked. You don’t know how to react, between anger and sadness. You understand your girlfriend’s distress and try to help her. You can’t leave other young people in danger like this.
Tasks
You suggest to Sophie that she make a TikTok video to denounce the dangers and influence that these challenges can have. Sophie agrees with your idea: young people spend a lot of time on TikTok and choosing this medium will certainly have an impact. So you decide to meet after school in the library to see how you can do it. You both take the subject to heart and want to do something relevant.
